Someone new is running the show at Honda Motors. Well, in fact this person will lead research and development for North America Honda subsidiaries. This department manages both compliance at Honda dealers, such as Castle Honda in Morton Grove, IL and is responsible for developing popular American Honda vehicles such as Honda Accord.
The new president of research and development is Erik Berkman. He will take on this new position on April 1, 2012. Berkman will oversee the creation of new U.S. models. Honda has developed more than twenty American models since 1991. Berkman will take over for Hiroshi Takemura, who returns to Honda's Japan operations.
"Berkman has worked at Honda since 1982. He is now vice president of corporate planning and logistics in the Americas," according to sources.1
The company will promote American Honda President Tetsuo Iwamura to executive vice president of the entire Honda brand, also on April 1.
